Snap T spey cast with one hand 5wt

I had to leave the coast and come over to Culver and take care of a few things. While I was here in Central Oregon I took my 5wt fly rod down to the Descutes at Lower Bridge. The wind kicked up and I was having a hard time getting my fly out against that wind. All winter and spring I had been spey fishing so I tried the snap t cast and boom out went the fly. I'm not all that sure why the cast works that well in the wind but it does. I guess part of it is loading the rod and the low angle. No fish that day just a new cast for those windy days.

Ever since I learned a few double handed spey cast I've been using them with my single handed rods. It's amazing how useful they are to know.

Is there some sort of instructional video out there for us non-spay anglers? It seems complicated to me, but then so do the instructions to my VCR.

The video I have is Rio's Modern Spey Casting. It covers a lot of material. The best way to get those cast down is to have some one show you how. That's how I finally got it to work for me after trying to do it solo. Catch 22 who post on this site from time to time got me going the right way.

This is where I am at also, watched far to many videos and read to many books; need some hands on training.

I have this guys dvd. He is very good and although I just googled this website, it looks like you can watch the video on it, or download it.

Well, thank you kind sir! I will watch it on my roomies 'puter since mine won't break down and let me watch any video! Stoooopid thing! Anywho,I could watch it and fib by telling you "I got it"! But that would be a lie. :naughty: I really am a hands on kind of gal. That's why it took me four tries jumping off the garage to figure out my mom was right,I can't fly! :lol: :lol:
