Smoker won’t stay lit

Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of trouble with my smoker, and I was hoping to get some advice. I recently got a new smoker, and I've been trying to use it, but it just won't stay lit. I've followed all the instructions in the manual, and made sure to use the right amount of charcoal and wood chips, but no matter what I do, the fire keeps dying out. It's really frustrating, especially since I was really looking forward to using it this summer. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Any suggestions on how to keep the smoker lit?

If it's electric it might need a new heating element....and don't use an extension cord.

What kind of smoker? My pellet smoker has a hot rod that is used to start the fire but that is its only purpose. Does your smoker have a fan? Is the fan spinning?

yeah, A bit more info might help.
Make and model of the smoker.
Type of chips or pellets you're using.
Might be a characteristic of a product.

If it's a propane I've had to block the holes around the legs with cardboard
