Does anyone have any idea when they will announce if Chinook retention on the Siuslaw will be allowed this year?

Fall salmon seasons are usually announced in June. The ODFW proposed Fall seasons/rules are normally presented to the commission a month or so earlier and that can provide a strong hint of what's coming....

this confirms what I have been hearing, nothing good, and in this case, the severe drought in NorCal a few years ago is hitting the chinook runs and that is almost certainly going to be bad news for our ocean salmon seasons this summer (most of the chinook available to catch OFF Oregon each summer are NorCal fish heading for Sacramento and Klamath rivers).

Klamath returns look as low as Sacramento.

"The Sacramento River forecast was not the only bad news that came out of the March 1 meeting. State officials said they expect 103,793 Klamath River chinook, which represents the lowest numbers since 1997."

We won't have any fish if we don't take care of our brood stock.
