Siletz drifts?

J

I'm making plans to hit the siletz sometime maybe this weekend or the next and was looking for input on where would be the best place to put in and take out. I've never fished this river, so any help is appreciated.

Mike and Jeanna that's an awesome drift. I reccomend it to anyone with a drift boat. A text book run 1 slightly technical spot 1/2 mile or so from moonshine but its a piece of cake. I want in LOL... My vehicle prevented me from it sunday that's why I ended up at the alsea mike.

Would take ya but there's no room, my boat is not a three person boat. Did it once, swore I would never do it again, way way way too crammed. You're in Eugene? I'm gonna be runnin' the Siuslaw the end of the month hopefully on a weekday, I'll probably have an open seat, I will let you know if you want to go

Hey J.J.,just thought I would put in my 2 cents on this drift. There is a serious drop in this stretch, one that can be sketchy, for ANY boater.I was warned of this danger beforehand, and things could have gone much worse If I wasn't.I can't give you exact details on location and safest route,I have only ran it once, I am no expert.Does anyone have more specifics about the rapid/fall I am referring to?

Ah yeah would be good to know about that! Lol. I ran into some hectic stuff on lake creek I had no idea existed because you don't see it from the bank...I got through it but it was crazy. So any info on such things is greatly appreciated!

I could reccomend any drift but moonshine/twin bridges(I am not saying can't or shouldnt, just not reccomended:D).Twin bridges/town,or around town are good and fairly surprise free.

I haven't drifted it, but I hear the Town Loop is easy and can be productive. Also, the distance from the put in to the take out is only across town (1/2 mile) and the drift is about 5 miles. A friend of mine told me they would go early in the morning and be able to drift the loop twice with no problem.

I have always wanted to do this drift. I have a little pontoon boat that I sometimes drift the Alsea in (Mill Cr. to Campbell), so if you're going to do the town loop and wouldn't mind me tagging along let me know. I might work out.

Lol I think we can manage it, if it's just one spot. I've survived some hectic stuff on the McKenzie and Lake creek.

My concern with that is how many other boats are there gonna be on a weekend? I bet a lot because it's such a logistically simple drift. We'll see I'm definitely going to be checking this river out closely and plan on fishing it more in the future.

Ah, weekends! Not my favorite time to fish since I'm lucky enough to be retired. Have fun.
