So how about ODFW and ODA provide the scientific methodology used to place the closed/open line at the Siuslaw river? Is there a step function in domoic acid levels that happens at the Siuslaw river? Some sort of magic that makes razor clams on the south side safe but the north side unsafe?

May14 data: 12ppm at Umpqua- Sparrow park- 25miles south of the Siuslaw river.
May14 data: 20ppm at Agate Beach Newport- 50 miles north of the Siuslaw river.

A linear extrapolation of this data would result in an estimate of 15ppm at the Siuslaw river and 18ppm at the Alsea river (Waldport).

But the closed/open line stays as the Siuslaw river? Why? Seems like the north coast Clastop beaches the only ones that ODFW cares about.

looks like the CG are installing a new high tech domoic acid filter to protect the safe south jetty clams from the evil algae on the north side...
hang on, I'm being told this is just the whistle buoy being installed for the summer. that's different, never mind.
