Im in salem i need to get plugs and lower unit oil for my outboard. Where can i get them. What kund of oil

there is a place called allen marine service in salem. they should have everything you need or will ever need. make sure you get the plugs for your motor. outboards are plug specific. As for oil get lower unit oil. brand doesn't matter too much but everyone has there favorites.

So i was givin some walmart brand 80-90 lower unit oil. Will this work ok for my 79 evinrude 15hp

Yeah it will work. thing is though if its in a quart jug then you will need to make some kind of device to pump oil into the fill hole. Think turkey baster and big syrenge and hoses and such.

Its in tubes. How much will it take

One handy thing to remember is a lot of Evinrude, Johnson, and Sea King parts are interchangeable. Did you ever find a part diagram or tune up specs for your motor?

I have a set of tune up manuals that cover most 1955 to 1983 outboard motors. I will have to go shovel snow and see if I can find some specs for you. I know I have information on 1978 15 HP Evinrude, because I have one LOL, I don't think they changed much in one year. If I remember corectly most of the motor specs have a range of years they apply to.

Ok then, I will give you the title of this service manual but it has been out of print for 28 years so I am not sure the odds on finding another one.

Lets see covers from 1974 to 1982 Evinrude 9.9 and 15 hp models

in 1979 the model numbers on the 15 hp Evinrude were 15904, 15905, *15954, and *15955

The two numbers with the Astrix (*) are electric start models.

Hmmm... Have to find a better way to type this stuff, there are 8 pages of diagrams and information.
