Went back to Coos on 9/20.
Dropped traps in 20 ft. of water near Clam Island.
6 traps soaked for about 4 hours chicken for bait.
We harvested 12 legal Dungeness and one Red rock crab.
Tossed back many shorts and females.
Looks like next molt will produce a bunch of legals if the number of just barely undersized throwbacks are any indication.
We did much better on rockfish while the traps soaked.
With the take upped to 5 fish each we got two limits of black rockfish a couple of which went to 3 lbs.
Most were closer to 1 to 1-1/2 lb. No Ling this trip although I'm sure one that broke me off was a good sized ling cod and a sea lion stole a ling from my partner as it neared the boat.
Hard to tell if it was legal sized though.
Fed several rockfish to that freeloading seal.
Also tossed back a couple of Coppers that weren't up to the size of the blacks we were catching.

Great report. Sounds like a perfect day
.
See any salmon rolling ?
No, but we were pretty focused on what we were doing and the water had a bit of chop from the 5 mph breeze.
For us to spot a rolling fish it would have had to do so right under our nose.
