Newport salmon fishing

We are headed to Newport for four days and was hoping to do some spinner fishing for salmon from the banks or jetties. Considering the tides, it does not seem that jetties would be a good place to be. We are beginners and trying keep our kids interested. Should we head up river? If so, how far up do we go? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I'm not able to answer your jetty question. But I can tell you that we haven't had enough rain, to bring 'em upstream yet. They will still be in the Bay and Tidewater areas. So if you don't have a boat...fishing the jetties / banks would be the ticket. As long as it's safe to do. Please wear your PFD's and stay safe.

What site are you using for that forecast? I like it better than what I use.
