Unfortunately the the only hobby I enjoy more than fishing, is spending money.

Time to retire the old tempress rod holder, I've had it on at least 5 different vessels now. Going to switch to the Scotty version, mostly for the rail option.

Found this battery on marketplace, it's generally the go-to on the motorized kayak fishing Facebook page, bought it as a backup for super long days on the water, probably test it at Alton Baker. I immediately don't miss the weight of lead-acid, but it was less than half of retail

Purchased another Trac Trolling Motor plug, not sure if I'll need it yet, but they are tough to get right now.

Waterproof box showed up, battery tomorrow.

Thinking about Velcro between the box and the hull access plate it will sit on. (round access hat, I will secure it with the rudder strap as well.

Probably lock the handle in the upright position, factory option but I need to get pins.

Forgot to update, I found a 2nd box that I ended up using.

It looks funny in the same spot but I won't have to paint it, which is the main reason I chose it. Also a little more room on the inside to carry an extra prop nut, pins, registration, etc....

Been doing lots of rigging, more parts for bungee runs on the way as well.

Really hard to find hardware right now, especially 8-32 track nuts, most are 1/4-20

Bought a cooler I thought would fit, right color, right dimensions online, but didn't work out.

New battery is up and running, I know my battery tracker isn't super accurate, but I appear to be using about 7aH of battery per hour in pretty heavy wind.

Even with the box on the deck instead of on the hull access, I gained 8" of deck space

Moved the seat about 4" back and I was right at the tipping point fore and aft, bow moved up quite a bit

I'll switch some of the gear out once the new hardware arrives, but it's pretty set so far.

Revamped batter box with a shunt. Should be more accurate at measuring use

2 trips so far and haven't used more than 15% including towing another kayak all the way up Alton Baker.

Wouldn't be mine unless it was overdone

Cart should work just need to figure out strapping it.

Going to trim the plywood and route it

I got some notices of failed LCD screens in the sun, after I drilled the hole....

So I hollowed out an outdoor outlet cover and added it over the gauge, left enough room for a switch in the future

2 hour trip yesterday, burned 7aH an hour in pretty heavy weeds and constant use, never used spot lock.

Usage might go down with a better prop, something that cuts weeds better.

Again today, another 2 hours in current at Alton and another 14% gone

Sitting at 70% with just over 4 hours of use.

Removed the rear rudder, it's just so much easier to get on and off the truck and onto the cart without it in the way.

I need to block the rear accessory hole still in the transom, water gets in on a steep launch

Fix for now, simply unthread the t handle and swap the rear plate.

Velcro to help with shear load on the skeg.

Going to try a raised box, it mixed up 4" but I was also able to make it move back 10"

Going to try stability tests tomorrow

Between time spent outfitting the sled, testing the upgrades, and occasional jaunts to exotics bass locales, when do you sleep? (y)

I hear that at work too lol, but I'm only 26, no kids, and a wife with completely different hobbies, very fortunate [emoji106]

I enjoy tinkering and rigging just as much as the fishing!

Speaking of testing, I ran up to bond butte (for the boat ramp) to test the box sitting higher, really didn't notice much of a change.

Moving the chair forward was a much larger impact, the best thing to do would be lose 25lbs myself

I very much enjoy the tinkering as well ... Kudos to you and the fruits of your labour!

It is a sled to be envious of.

Another trip to the hardware store.

Ive got the rails pretty much done, don't think I'm going to paint them.

I went with stainless eyes on the outside of the rear one, I've been looking for a place to strap my kayak cart in that general area, and this should do the trick.

Rubber fender washers under everything.

The box indexes with 2 of it's feet into the rear aluminum bar, which stops it from sliding unless it jumps out, I don't know if I should secure it further with some bungee loops

Contacted the Oregon State Marine board today just to check up on my registration and title.

They are a minimum of 3 month lead time from submitting everything to sending our your title and OR registration...

She said call back at the end of January if I haven't received anything.
