New braid on a baitcaster

I am going to load 30# Spiderwire stealth on my baicaster spools and I have a question. Is there a need to install a monofilament backer first to prevent slippage of the braid on the spool? If so, what knot would you recommend to tie the two lines together?
Thanks Todd

I've always put a strip of electrical tape down before I put on the braid. That way it has something to bite into. Hope that helps.

I purchased a spool of PowerPro line and it comes with special adhesive strips that eliminate the need for a mono backing. Can anybody confirm they are foolproof? Otherwise, I have always been using a piece of electrical tape on my baitcasters with braid.

Thanks for the input guys. Will one wrap of electrical tape be enough?

I noticed with some baitcasters they have holes in the spool, you can tie it down to that if you have that type of spool. You can also do a Google search which will yield tons of videos and information.
