Need Information

I am planning to fly to Oregon and spend some time with my son who is living in Eugene. I'd like to back pack to a mountain lake and campout for a couple of days and do some fishing. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go? Nothing too strenous.

Bosco- I don't camp, but if you enter "camping" into the OFF search engine at the top of the page you will find a lot of information from older posts with the same question. I am sure you will get some fresh ieas as well.

Welcome to OFF, what time of year are you looking at? It has been a slow spring so the snow is still pretty heavy above 2500 feet. What type of fish are you interested in?

When are you coming? I'm tempted to recommend Linton Lake if it's accessible when you get here.

Linton is a good choice! Just stay on the trail up there as I got lost in the woods for about 4 hours one time.
Square Lake is a nice lake too! Have hike into it several times and have caught some nice fish in that lake!
Just depends on when you are going to be here and how much snow will still be on the ground when you do get here.

God, I love living here!:) I haven't fished square, only hiked by it.

I have packed a rubber raft into square lake a few times and found the best way to catch them was with a small flasher and a worm. Some nice brook trout in that lake! :)

Check out this website.

I've mentioned this link in another thread but you might ask this same question on portlandhikers.com. While pretty much geared to hiking there are plenty of users there and the odds are good there is somebody who fishes there.

They might be a bit shy about posting their favorite spots online but might PM you.

Have a great visit.
