need a lake not too far from gresham.

So I bought a used fish hunter with trolling motor yesterday and I need a lake to try it on!!! I'm not so much interested in catching fish as I am just trying the raft. I went down to benson today not realizing it was row only.....ended up taking my wife over to bonneville to check out the visitor center (she's never been) Which I would suggest for anyone with any youngsters that haven't been out there. I have a camping trip next month and I just want to make sure that the raft floats and the motor works before I go. So I geuss my main goal is to find a lake close to gresham and secondary goal is to catch some fish (trout). Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

P.S. I don't think they stocked benson yet, there was no one there. But I could be wrong about that, It's supposed to be sometime this week.

I'd suggest North Fork Reservoir. Fair chance to catch a fish too.

Thanks TD. I really figured I would get a lot more replies than that. I have a pretty small electric motor so I'm not sure how it will do in that big of a lake (BUT I HAVE A MOTOR NOW :)!!! )I'm stoked. I can't park a boat where I live and have been kind of on the fence about whether or not to spend the money on a fish hunter and motor until I saw this one at a good price. All I've done with the raft so far is blow it up, clean it up a little bit and I'm in love lol. Oh yeah and I hooked the motor up in my bathtub to make one hell of a mess, haha. I can see this is going to be the start of an awesome adventure in the inflatable watercraft world. I was up until 2 last night checking out all kinds of different little mods for the thing and all done on the cheap side. I'll have to start a post under the non fishing section when I start working on it I have some pretty cool ideas! Well thanks again TD, I was actually leaning toward somewhere out that direction but didn't want to drive that far to find out my raft is going to sink and the motor catch fire. Now that I know that's not going to happen I think I'll head out there tomorrow(weather permitting). But to everyone else out there If you know of any lakes closer to gresham I could try this thing out in PLEASE let me know. I'll post pics if all goes well.

You're very welcome Will. I hope that your maiden voyage goes well; and you bag some fish too.

NOTE: this forum has been acting up BADLY for about 3 days or so. I have tried to reply to you before this; but could not. That is likely the reason you have not gotten many replies by now. Be patient. I suspect that our admin is working to fix the problem.

Hey Woz, I do not think that you can take your own boat out on Blue lake between Memorial day and Labor day. I think it is rental only. In the off season you are allowed to launch small boats there.

Blue lake only allows private boats from Oct 1st-april 30th (I think those were the right dates) Right now if you want to go out on a boat at blue lake, you have to rent one of theres :(

My bad! I think it sucks!

Privately owned watercraft are allowed on the lake for the purpose of angling between Oct. 1 and April 30, as long as they do not exceed 14 feet in length (17 feet for canoes) and 3.0 horsepower in motor capability.
