National Dog Day: ocean chinook out of Sunset Bay

really, there's something called "National Dog Day"? and it's today? cool.

'Pepper' and I have had some amazing fishing days but today was special. We had two things left on our kayak fishing bucket list: a big chinook salmon and an ocean salmon. Well, we checked OFF both with this 'butterball' buck chinook, just over 1 mile out of Sunset Bay which is ocean port tagging code: 20.

great battle and lots of chaos leading up to this netting shot that was possible because Pepper ignores it all and lays behind me, her head is under my left elbow, she doesn't move while I am fighting a fish.
that's Bastendorf Beach and the CoosBay lighthouse way OFF in the distance...

but when it's time to goof off, she's all in. Me: excellent. Pepper: boring...

Nice job. What a way to take something off of your bucket list. With a pig.
