Monmouth area

So I get wednesday off for Veterans Day and was excited because I could go fishing with my fly rod without the weekend crowds, but then realized I still have my graduate class that night at 4:30 in Monmouth. So anybody know of a good spot near Monmouth where I can fish for most of the day before I go to class. I do have a toon but kind of looking for a wading adventure.

Thanks

You can fish from the bank in the park there in Independence. I don't think you'll want to wade the Willy, though. You can also check out Buena Vista park down the road. There's a few others if you want to drive a bit. Check out Boat Escape - Ultimate Oregon Boating, Camping & Fishing Resource | and All Oregon - Oregon Directory of Oregon web sites by someone actually born in Oregon. for more choices. Let us know how you do.

Myself I would just hit the Rickreal Creek it has nice little Cutts in it. That is as long as it lets up on teh rain so the creek isn't blown out.

I have seen that creek. Do you fish right in the town there or do you go more towards the coastal mountains. I am thinking a smaller stream adventure could be fun. I have been worrying about all the rain blowing up all rivers. Thanks for your help!

I have never fished it myself but one of the city inspectors I work with down there hits it up a lot during his "lunch break".. He told me he liked fishing under the bridges over in Dallas. I have looked at them an it looks like some good water the first bridge from Monmouth to downtown.

did a good amount off looking at fishing that Creek yesterday. With all the weather and rain opted not to go. Stopped by the creek on the way to class and it was high and fast and a bit murky so I am thinking it was a good choice not to fish it. Plus I was having issues figuring out the regs for that creek. Looks fishy though from what I saw online.

It was a good thing too, it closed for trout Oct 31st, along with most other rivers and creeks.

Though I look forward to your fishing report next May when it reopens.
