Trout fishing is currently phenomenal on the McKenzie. Fish are eating every egg pattern they see. A client of mine wanted to do something nice for a dentist that refers him a lot of patients so I suggested a float on the McKenzie. Both of them are novice fly fishermen but they were both into fish as soon as they got the hang of casting. If you've never fly fished the McKenzie in October it is a special experience. The trout are feasting on springer eggs. Leech patterns swung close to the bottom produce well too but drys haven't produced at all for us.
The pic is a 17" redside I picked up earlier last week.
