mainline dilemma

I just got a Spirex 4000 RE Spinning Reel on a 9'6" Berkley IM8 med action rod
I was using 10lb Maxima Crystal Ivory with my old rod, but I have been reading a few reviews on braided line for spinning reels...
seems most folks user Maxima UG for leaders, but I can't make a decision on a mainline.
what would you guys recommend in a 10lb or 12lb rated line intended for a float/drift setup.

I am leaning towards Sufix Elite Clear Blue

I really like the Sufix products. I use Siege for ~60% of my leaders. The Sufix braids are pretty good too. I have only used Performance Braid, and Ice Magic, but the PB is amazing on spinning reels. It actually works well, and casts like crazy! I would use braid for a float specific rod. It is so much less headache to easily be able to pick up your line, and set the hook. The Elite is nice, and I got a free spool of 6 pound. Pretty tough on logs and rocks, and very strong when using 5 wrap, basic clinch knots. It is nice for my Bass/giant Trout gear. It casts well, but does not stick to the spool like it should. I think it is becaus eit is coated If you wind in hardware, and give it a couple loose winds when your spinner pops out of the water... It will knot up on the next cast sometimes. Maxima UG, and Gamma do not do this. And Gamma sticks like friggin glue to the spool as far as mono goes.

Is there a color concern with braided line?

That Clear Blue would spook more fish than the lo-vis greens the braids come it, and with float fishing, the line is not supposed to really be in the water. It is better for it to sit atop the liquids. So the fish won't see it until it is deadly low, and clear.

ya i like the 14 pound fire line in hi vise yellow on my foat rod. it make it nice if you look away or blink. it makes it way eseay to find your float agin sight right down your line and there is your float. some time it makes the difrance. more times than i can remember i lost track of my float well running a bote or doing what ever to sight up my line toa bobber down!!!!!!!!! the fire line is nice and stiff cast like a dream and wont bindinto the spool when you just reel whith out puttingany preshure on your line . 14 pound is about the best size for casting and it will not knote wen you cast the only bad thing i can say is bobber stops will slide on it so to stop that i use to of them titen them up then slide them together and problem solved. but like AA sed you dont want the hi vise in realy low water or if you want todrift fish with it you can tie on a 10 foot mono bumper i know a lot of guides and profisher man that fis that way .
pesonaly i drift with mono i love the P-Line CX preum in moss green it is a mono coated in floro carbon it hase a small line diamiter 12 pound CX is the same diamiter as 10 pornd ultra green i use it for all my leaders and my main line if i dont use brade i love it and its good sroge stuff and at sportmans or fishermans it about 2 cents a yard so not to expensive ether I hope this helps
