Hey Rick:

Regarding the Derby at Billy Chinook on April 25th. It is my understanding that the weigh-in will be held at Cove Palisades, is that correct? Could you provide us with some additional information regarding the festivities? Look forward to being there. I know it will be a good time.

Thanks,
Ron

Wow guys, and gals. Where is all the chatter?? We have a derby in five days at Lake Billy Chinook. Am I the only one that is excited and ecstatic about it?? I will be there with bells on and maybe the pink chicken boots too. The singing and dancing depends on how much "Jack" is available or course. :D I heard that Sparse Gray Hackle is coming up from the south to entertain us, and bringing some guy from Uncle Larry's Lures. ;) He really did need a fishing partner, so that is a good thing. My fishing partner has yet to catch a kokanee so that should be entertaining in itself. That may be a bad thing. (No offense intended Hank, we will get you tuned in.) Prez Greg and his partner will be there. Irishfish will be there to cook burgers, and maybe fish a little. Fall River Guy is bringing a couple fishermen with him. We do have several more entrants but I am not privvy to that info at this time. Who all is coming? Feel free to chime in.

5 days left. Look forward to seeing everyone there and putting some more faces and names together.

OH,YA, Here we come WAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Save your Dixie cups the south will rise again. This time the southern boys are ready to kick some Bull Trout Butt, just as a warm up to the Kokanee. you can make the check out now if you want to. "Big Bad John" and I plan on winning first and second..

Hey did we get any more guys to stay on the house boat??? I think we only have 8 or 9 on a boat that has room for 14. Each evening I am sure that there will be lots of Fish , Elk, Deer killed, and stories of past fights and conquests on the fantail, or in the hot tub.
Ron don't forget to bring your speed-O....... Ooh!, just the thought of that will sober you up!:naughty:

Come and join us you WILL have a good time and you might win..

Can't make it for the Billy Chinook adventure, as I am much dumber than polyurethane paint. My three month quest to be a ship right has turned into a 7 month mishap into the realm of shipwrong!

Being said I do plan on making to the Green Peter event with a few friends in tow.

We'll be getting the entry forms submitted soon!

Anyone else interested in taking part in this?

i would love to go to the green peter one but i don't think i can afford to tow my boat or be able to have my girls rig for so long but if anyone has an open seat on there boat for any one of these derby's i could help with gas or if some some one wants to tow my boat. I have a 12' aluminum with a 6 horse but no sonar. On unemployment so my schedule is wide open.

Yee Haw, only 4 days til Billy Chinook derby day. Can't wait.

I must say, though, I will be there Thursday and Friday to practice a little. Local word is the weather may be a little spotty but the fishing should be good. Sounds good to me.

We can still take derby applications. By telephone even, with a credit card. Call Greg 541-973-4831 or Ron 707-350-3430. We will try to do whatever it takes to get you signed up.

Oh, Sparse Gray Hackle, due to the change in weather the Speedo is out. But........the pink chicken swede boots haven't been ruled out yet!!!

Derby....

Derby....

So how did the Derby pan out? It just seems like so far all the reports coming in from Central Oregon are dismal, and that is being kind. Any one go to this function?

As soon as the top ten places are received I will post them. That should be very soon.

Regarding the fishing. The fish were on the small side, however they were plentiful. I think most boats were able to limit. Report for my boat for Thursday evening we C&R 7 kokanee. Friday we managed limits of kokanee and one small bull trout in about four hours. Saturday we got limits again in less than 3 hours. We released several fish enroute to filling our limits as well. I wouldn't term the results as dismal by any means with the exception of the fish averaging just over 11".

Derby day the weather could have been better as it got windy and stayed cool. The weather Friday was absolutely gorgeous. There were about 25 entrants in the derby which is not too bad for an inaugural derby. The burgers were great as was the company. Next years derby will be vastly improved now that we have visited the area and understand the available amenities and how to make the best of them.

As for me, I bought the annual tribal permit and can't wait to return.

So the derby was for biggest fish. For some reason i thought it was total weight. Do you happen to have those numbers?

C

Absolutely right you are!!! The totals are the weight of the three fish each angler weighed in.

Oh ok I thought the weight was from a single fish but three makes more sense if the were on the smaller side. I was just think we catch rainbows that are over a pound all the time but i remember reading that the kokes were small. thanks for clarifying this for me. Do you know what the single biggest fish was?

OK everyone. We are looking for a bunch of OFF'ers to enter our Derby at Green Peter Reservoir on June 6. This is a special one this year and it would be advisable to enter early. (I believe "Troutski" came last year but didn't fish.) These are great events, a lot of fun, and proceeds are for the good of Oregon inland fisheries.

This year we have Angler's West Television attending to film the Green Peter event for an upcoming half hour segment of their show on the Outdoor Channel. Of course the winner will recieve $400 plus a spot on the show! That could be YOU!! Additionally, we will have some of the tackle manufacturers there with their products available to be won as prizes.

And of course, all entrants will be treated to barbeque hamburgers at the weigh in which will be held and Sunnyside Park as it was last year. Non-entrants may purchase lunch for $5.

We look forward to seeing some of the OFF folks there. Anyone having questions feel free to call Greg 541-973-4831 or Ron 707-350-3430.

Hey Capron! you better get your Northern boys signed up. I just talked to Greg and he say that the derby is filling up fast!!! You guys have a title to defend and us Southern boys want it.
John Yurkovich from Uncle Larry's Lures will be there along, with Robbie Thorson from R&K Spinners, Gary Mirallas from Shasta tackle, Steve Lynch from Pro- Cure, All the guys will be on site and fishing the derby.
Come and talk to them, find out their secrets and how to use their products.

Bob Schmidt from Mack's also sent down some real nice stuff, along with Kyle Neeser from Crystal basin Tackle, Vance's tackle, and Uncle Malcolm from Hot Spot. Terry Bennett famed Northwest Guide;), Scotty and Hot Spot Pro-staff , will be there this year and he always has good tips on Kokanee fishing.
I will bring a Kokanee rod made from a new Graphite we are testing for the raffle also.
This should be one of the best Derby's we have had to date. Please come and join us.
How about it? Troutski, Fishfinger??? you old boys just talk or do you fish??:yay::yay::yay:
Capron You been practicing your dancing? and polishing your Pink Chicken suede boots? Because if I beat you again you are going to have to brake out that two toned Monkey hair Speed-O, strap on them boots and dance for us.

capron6
Boy, is Rogue Rick proud to have beat me at Lake Billy Chinook, or what?? One one-hundredth of a pound thrashing he gave to me up there, but then he took a check home and I didn't, so I guess that gives him braggin' rights.

Now you are coming to this home boys turf.......er lake, and we will see who gets a whuppin' this time. The boots are polished, the monkey hair speedo is home from the cleaners. But maybe it will be YOU wearing them this time. The Northern boys are ready, so you Southern boys don't even need to go practice, and as a matter of fact you might as well stay home cuz the title will stay in the North. If you guys could teach President Greg, or Secretary Brian how to fish you might stand a chance. Low man buys the Beer???

We better watch out though, these OFF guys might kick some booty if we aren't careful. But first they need to enter don't they?

I'm trying to work some angles to get some Green Peter action. There needs to be an OFF contingent in the derby......

The "Double Lu" may not be on the water offical like by the 6th but come Odell derby.... It's on for sure

OFFer's, it isn't too late to enter the Green Peter Derby. We have less than two weeks left until we can have some fun. Anyone wanting to enter can still send in the entry form. Additionally, we can take your application over the phone with a card. Call Greg 541-973-4831 or Ron 707-350-3430.

See you there, and bring a buddy.
