John Day River trip

Still trying to organize a trip. Between the weather and conflicting schedules, I've not been able to make it happen yet. But not for lack of interest or effort on my part.
Gimme a holler and let's make it happen.

Remembered the camera, but nothing to takes pictures of. No fish, but lots and lots of wind(which did come and go), and some rain(not too bad). The wind made it a real pain trying to troll, and being on anchor wasn't much fun either.
Marked lots of fish, but couldn't seem to entice them to bite. Used cured shrimp, diver plugs, also a couple of TCO spinners. Nuttin doing.
Most everybody there was trolling, a few were anchored most of the time. Fished between the take out and Phillippi boat park. Was somewhat surprised how deep the river is.
The wind really picked up mid afternoon, basically blew us off the river. Going back to the take out, headed downstream and against the wind was a real joy !!
Not gonna give up tho. Will go back soon and try again for some of those winter steel.

Sorry to hear they weren't biting. Were you putting that bait near the bottom?

Yea when the wind picks up on the river the fun factor can go way down :(
