This book was a game changer for me, back when it was first released in the 80's). I still have my original copy (and another inherited from my pops). I have NO affiliation with this fleabay seller. But they have a 100% feedback rating--and this is the lowest price that I've seen in a long time. So take a look and get it if you can. Jed's approach, and spinner design techniques, were very scientific and work with great results.
