I took my daughter out today up around leaburg, on the Mckenzie, with hopes of getting her into a summer steely. There were a few fish around, but an old springer had the steelhead pushed out of there normal holding spot. Thankfully they didn't move to far.

A child of five would understand this.
Send someone to fetch a child of five.

My dad fished all the time when I was little. I had zero interest in catching fish. I remember out salmon fishing I was probably 8 or so. I kept my lure on the top of the water so I could watch it swim in the water. I figured I probably wouldn't catch a fish anyways. In my teens my dad lost interest in fishing for the most part.(I'm starting to get him back into it) Then I hit my early twenties and really got into trout fishing. Mastered that and now I'm trying to master some bigger feesh! Still working on it.

I just need a fishing teacher... ;)
Or even a week-long day fishing camp during the summer for summer steel...

Talk your dad into taking you up to the Coho fishing thing. I'm sure you'll pick up some great tips there!
