If you had to choose

there have been plenty of these threads in the past but you could only choose one or two of each. what if you were to go on a week long fly fishing trip to streams in oregon, you can have 6 nymphs,6 dry flies and 6 streamers/wets (soft hackles are counted as wets) and two sizes of each fly. this is for trout fishing and you have one small box to stock.I'm sure this will also benefit people on the forum newer to fly fishing that way they have an idea of what patterns are most effective.

nymphs:

1. possie bugger sizes 12 and 16

2. ice dub pheasant tail sizes 16 and 18

3. mega prince sizes 8 and 12

4.bead head kaufmann's stonefly sizes 8 and 10

5. ice dub prince sizes 12 and 16

6. cased caddis sizes 12-14

Dries:

1. royal stimulator sizes 12 and14

2. brown/tan (mix) elk hair caddis sizes 12 and 14

3. griffith's gnat sizes 18 and 20

4. BWO cripple sizes 16and18

5.extended body BWO sizes 18 and20

6. improved golden stone sizes 8 and 10

streamers &wets:

1. ice dub soft hackle sizes 14 and 16

2.peacock soft hackle sizes 12 and 14

3. pheasant tail soft hackle sizes 12 and 16

4. egg sucking rabbit sculpin sizes 8 and 10

5. bead head black wooly bugger sizes 10 and 12

6. muddler minnow with a hint of krystal flash sizes 8 and 10

I'm sure this thread will help me. I want to start trying out fly fishing. Just seems like a lot of fun. My dad has a fly rod and reel that he "caught lots of trout on after I got bored catching planters with eggs", in his words. I'd love to fly fish small streams for wild fish, or maybe even play around with warmwater fish in the summer just to try something fun.

Now I just need to go figure out what all of it means.
