no steelies
no steelies
Jeez, didn't think holding back info on an area would be such a big deal....it's only out of respect to others on this site, otherwise I have no problem sharing info. Anywho, went back the next day to find the steelies but no such luck as it would be. We fished what seemed at least a mile stretch of water wading and hiking the banks, not a bite, and no fish in site. Not even little pesky cutthroats wanted to jump on my line.
So I took my friend to several other creeks and I hooked up with some nice rainbows throwing spinners and flying with nymphs. My friend on the other hand continued to catch only trees and was getting frustrated with his lack of fish and my abundance. So for the last few hours of the day I decided to abandon ship and head towards hope mills in hopes that they had finally stocked it. I had visited there on Monday and had called everyday up till wed. but it had not been stocked. Sure enough we get there and there was quite the crowd of people. Fish were jumping and I finally thought I would get my friend on some fish. after 15 minutes of being there I had my limit with prince nymphs and after two hours my friend finally caught his only fish for the day and screamed out "I DON'T SUCK...I CAUGHT A FISH." By that time the crowd had cleared after the State police had been checking out everyone from the distance with his binoculars and came and wrote at least 4 families tickets for not having a lic.
That was my day, good trout fishing for me, my friend had fun in the end, and the steelies are still out there for someone......somewhere...
