How to get free fishing gear part 2

Here is an e-mail I just recieved after sending Maxima (the fishing line manufactures) a short write up and a picture of the hen I caught on Friday while fishing with Joesnuffy

Dear Mr. XXXX,

Congratulation of your recent catch.

We at MAXIMA are delighted to hear that we could help a bit by means of our products to land that fish. However, we do fully realise that your skilfulness, passion and talent are the real "pillars" of this success and we are very proud to have such an angler among our friends.

Please advise your complete physical address and we will prepare a little gift for you.

Thank you for your response.

Best regards.

I thought Maxima was US based/manufactured??? Did this change recently? Or am I delusional? Probably just delusional, as always.

Edit; I want a super cool last name like XXXX! Is that Swedish?

Part one was titled "How to get free fishing gear" that was posted a few months ago in this section. Basically it was a reminder to people to take pictures of their catch if they can, but even without pictures to write a short blurb about the fish you caught and your adventures and send it to the manufactures of the fishing gear you used.

I was thinking the same thing. Except sending it to the Rapala. I bought a few X-Raps and I went to nook landing to test them out. But the only thing I caught that day was a Small 8inch Smallie. My friends sister tooka picture of it, But she never gave it to me.

The kicker is you don't ask for anything. Just simply write up your experience including the specie caught and gear used. Don't even send them contact info except your e-mail; let the companies ask you for your contact info.

That's ok, I didn't even get a response from Gamakatsu (hooks), Shakespeare (rod), or Shimano (reel)..... Not so much as a congratulations on your fish, a hi, bye, or kiss my tush.

But don't let this dishearten you Grasshopper as some companies will send out stuff to better promote their products (Word of mouth is the best advertizing you know).:D
