Fished the evening with a buddy of mine on our kayaks, launched about 530 and loaded back up at 10pm

Fishing was slow in the heat, the entire lake is matted over except the deep spots and random spots across the south shoreline pictures don't do it justice, water looks to be down about 4'

Caught one in the sun on a spinnerbait, the other 4 fish came on a Spro Bronzeye Pop65 in killer gill color, my go-to.

I tried a punching style bait for the first time, had one hit but completely missed the fish, thought the bait was falling when in reality a fish was carrying it

Lost what felt like a really nice fish on the frog, got about 2 cranks on it before the line went slack. Also had 2 more fish miss the frog entirely but never came back for it.

All the fish are really healthy, nothing smaller than about 1.5lbs

Biggest might be 3lbs, didn't weigh any

Another report for Ford's Pond, I imagine we'll combine these eventually

I got on the water at 530pm, wind was strong out of the North

Solo trip this time, rigged with a lizard, spinnerbait, frog, and swimbait

I fished until 6 when one slammed the spinnerbait while I was ripping through the weeds, decent fish.

Not even 2 casts later another fish, ran under the kayak while I grabbed the net and it swam free, NEXT cast and I just about had a fish jump in the kayak chasing the spinnerbait out of the water, I knew they were active at that point and switched to the frog

From then on it was bite after bite, 14 bass through the evening on a Spro Bronzeye popper, fishing fast and never stopping it for more than a few seconds

Biggest fish was right at 5lbs, not a single dink the whole night.

Almost had a perfect night but the 2nd to last fish came off, grabbed the frog and immediately swam towards me.

Probably could have kept going but the bugs were just about carrying me away. Got off the water about 10pm

They've had their fair share of teaching me a lesson lol

I've had 2 trips skunked there early in the spring, but I got em figured out somewhat now!

Fantastic report and pictures! It is amazing that such a small pond has so many quality fish. They look so healthy!

What is the panfish population like in the lake? I assume bluegill are a major food source for the bass unless the lake is loaded with crayfish.

Bluegill are around but I see more schools of perch, there's also crappie in there, and I've seen 2 turtles

Other than the just the nutria, mice, ducks, and Beaver

Decent bass wouldn't think twice about eating a duck or mouse, not sure about a larger rodent

Went out again for a shorter time, wind wouldn't stop

Had a bass hit the frog twice and miss it both times, had another drift around it while airborne but it wasn't actually in it's mouth

Did hookup on 2 others though!
