fishing Gerber

I finally fished Gerber last summer and had a blast. The crappie and perch were biting like crazy. LOTS of people at the fish cleaning station. I took my pontoon boat and a float tube for my son. I believe it was the end of June that we went. Is there anyone out there that fished Gerber a lot. I saw a bass boat on the water, and I will take mine this summer.
Any replies would be great. Thanks

fenderbender;
I did some checking on my favorite fish info site,Boat Escape; Ultimate Oregon Boating, Camping, Fishing Resource and found the following fish reside at Gerber:
White Crappie
Black Crappie
Brown Bullhead
Largemouth Bass
Pumpkinseed
Yellow Perch
There are three ramps,only one "improved". There is fuel available at North Gerber Campground along with restrooms. Since it shows that it is up at the 4900ft level, you are smart to wait until summer. You would definitely be in danger of freezing all your cockles if you went up now :naughty: (21 degrees this morning). If you have any questions about conditions the US BLM does have a number: 541-883-6916
Be sure to keep us in mind when you go up,we love new places and beautiful pictures. Good luck (skill) and be safe.

I live about an hour or so from Gerber and have yet to go this year. I do plan to start heading that way in the next month, as long as the weather keeps getting warmer. This will be my first year fishing from a boat so I am excited to see what I can find. :)

I live exactly 52 miles from Gerber. Took a drive up there couple weeks ago. Lake is really low. Where we were catching fish last summer is now bare ground. The dock at the improved launch site has not been floated yet. No one was fishing but there were some lookie loos, like us. Should improve by middle of May. (hopefully) I'll be trying it again soon. Took my grandson there last summer. He had never fished. An aquaintance of mine was fishing from the dock, and when he found out my grandson was a newbie to fishing, he took over. Gave him his rod, showed him what to do, etc. Pretty soon, he was pulling out crappie & perch. He loved it! I think we have him hooked, for sure. Looking forward to kids coming up again this summer so I can take them fishing. Ol Tymer:clap::clap:

Thanks for the reply ol tymer. I plan on fishing at Gerber again this spring or early summer. Keep me posted on how the fishing is and maybe we can hang out on the dock and catch fish. See ya later... Bender
