Went out today with Charlie from Fishin The Rogue Guide Service. We started a little after 3pm. the first one we got into was a nice bright hatchery. second one was a wild hen. it hit when i picked up the rod to bring it in because we were coming up to a rapid. well not long after we hooked up with it, charlies oar hit a rock and came out. so instead of anchoring and fighting of the fish we fought it on the run. that way we could catch up to the oar. i tightened the drag and we netted the fish. then we caught up to the oar and it got caught in a eddy so all ended well. we didn't know it was a wild until it had been out of the water for a few minutes so i tagged my 4th wild for the year. gonna save the last slot for a big one! :D

nice! side drifting?
i did a little side drifting. only caught a native rock. the fish came on plugs. first one hit while i was setting it in the rod holder. second one hit while i was removing from rod holder LOL we had a 3rd take down near rogue elk park. but it was on the same plug with a broken hook so it didn't stick.
Nice fish Shane! I am hoping to put first ink on the tag tomorrow.
good luck!!

Nice fish Shane, we too were on the Rogue yesterday but at 6.00 am on the lower Rogue at Gold Beach. One nice 30lb springer before the torrential rain forced us to think about warm food & cold beer for lunch. Reports from the guide who jumped in our spot as we left confirmed that our strategy was better than the ones who stayed for a fish-less , wet day.

Looking good. You and the Rogue have been hot this year. I spent 11 hours floating the Sandy with a guide and an other guy with our spey set up and we didn''t even get a bump! So my hat's off to you. Keep it up!;)
