Finally... score

Made a last-second decision to go to Oxbow today and we arrived at 7:15 about...
We drove in through the park and stopped at a long section of slow water.

Started off using a #4 spinner--Orange/red bell body with a brass blade.
Had some bites and one hookup... the line broke after a couple seconds! Tie on new leader/same colored spinner and start fishing again. Nothing for a while so I worked my way upriver. Then I had a vicious bite from a small coho... got it on the bank in a few minutes and as I tailed it... one headshake and my line broke. AGAIN.

New spinner... same color except with copper blade.
Same hole and another fish! Except bigger. Fought it for quite a while with a couple drift boats watching me. Best feeling ever?... almost. 10.7 pound coho salmon for a start to my salmonid list.

Heck ya way to go man! Congrats big time!

Just a little tip if the lines breaking I'd suggest loosening the drag a wee bit.

It was my Palomar knot that gave way... maybe I didn't moisten it enough?

Barb--I was frowning with revenge in all the pictures I got :D ;)

Forgot to mention... it was 31" and 10.7 pounds after cleaning/bleeding

Is this average for a coho?
