Welcome to the finest fishing forum family in the USA! :dance: There are actually a few nice spots around Dallas and more in the Salem area. Dallas has a very nice creek running through the Dallas City Park with trout,not huge or even big,but feisty. The Polk Marine Park in Independence has given up several trout,bass and pikeminnow. Buena Vista Ferry Landing has some access to the Willy as well. If you head west from Dallas you will find numerous fishy places. The Yamhill is on the way to the coast and has some nice bank access. The Salmon River in Otis or on highway 101 OFFers up some very nice Salmon. Devils Lake in Lincoln City has some great parks for bank access. If you head north on 101 there is a pull-out that I have seen tons of fatties struggling to get upstream. There are dozens of fishing opprotunities up and down the coast.
Back around Salem there is Mill Creek running all over the city. Walter Wirth is located behind Walmart off of Mission,rumor has it there are some real hawgs in there. Walling Pond is down the street at 16th & McGirchrist. The rest area south of Salem has access to the Santiam under the bridge. You will find trout,bass,carp,pikeminnow,steelhead and salmon down there if you are patient. Be prepared for an audience of gawkers and people chucking sticks for their dogs to fetch from time to time. Since you're out on I-5 at the rest area,you may as well go into Jefferson and ask at the barber shop where the fish are at around town. Very helpful guys there. Back on highway 22 headed toward Bend there are quite a few spots worth trying from Stayton to Sisters. Check out Kodiak's post in the Steelhead section for a sticky post about the Santiam. He generously gives up some very productive holes.

Dallas is 15 miles west of Salem on highway 22 headed toward Lincoln City. The Dalles is east of Portland in the gorge,not far from Rufus. Totally different.
