Dad wants to take his two teenage boys fishing. Where and how?

I want to start fishing with my two boys. We have two small poles with reels so we're limited right now by our equipment. Maybe we can use the small rod/reel setup for smaller fish? Thought we might go down to Sauvie's Island but don't really know where to go, what to fish for, or what to use for bait. Any help will be appreciated.

depending on how old ur boys are, remember the life jackets. Two boys are a handful with short attention spans. U only have two eyeballs use them wisely. The Island has moving water. U might want to try a Stillwater pond or trout lake. GL let us know how u do Tony

Siskel, Ebert, and Troutdude give the recommendation for LIFE JACKETS THREE THUMBS UP!!!

Click on this hotlink and watch the video series, from the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife (ODFW), "How to fish for Trout". Also scroll down and read everything on the rest of the page, click on the other links, etc.

Check the ODFW web site for the fishing report in your area. You can get plenty of info off their page

St Louis Ponds is a good place for beginners. many different types of fish (including lots of little ones) and lots of benches/areas/bank space to set up.
