Crabbing of off jetties?

Has anyone ever crabed of off the jetties (south) at newport. i suspect retrieval could be a problem against the rocks. last time i was out in a boat we caught our limit just of off the jetties. i got a day off tomorrow and was contiplateing going, any advice?

I've used fishing rod crab snares along the Jetty sands..... lost a couple rigs in the rocks. Works pretty good..... BUT lot's of snags!

I caught two on sandshrimp and hook. :lol:
Asian dude next to me got one every cast.
Tie a bunch of fishing line on a treble hook and put some smelly fish guts on the hook. Use a 3in dropper and 3oz of lead. Cast to center of bay and let it drift back about 20ft away from rocks. You'll only get one crab at a time but you will have one on every cast!

lol, na didn't get wet, that would have just made the day.
i lost 2 rings. i was able to throw them out far enough that when i retrieved them if i pulled quick they would just miss the rocks....except for two times. all day i caught 3 red rock keepers. i think i'll wait till me boat comes in.
