Circle Hooks for Sturg???

T

Was out fishin for salmon last weekend with one of my dads ol' buddies and he was literally a fountain of fishing knowledge. He was telling me he ONLY fishes sturgeon with circle hooks, and he ends up hooking about 90% of the fish that bite, which is a lot more than I hook up with regular hooks. Has anyone ever tried this, and is it even legal?:confused:

Absolutely! Circle hooks are legal for Gators. I have used them, and notice no differene between them, and the standards. Circle hooks are a little easier to dislodge from Sturgeys in most cases, and they almost always stick 'em in the side, "corner" of their vacuum hole.

My stepson also swears by them especally when he's targeting fat channel cat at Felida.

Circle hooks are designed to penatrate and continue to penatrate after they hook. They are extreamly sticky and will conintue drive with little pressure and very seldom come undone...you guys should try them when trolling herring for fall chinook...fish don't come unbuttoned.

madoc...Gamagatsu makes a really nice one.
