I haven't fished Emigrant lake for cats but I have heard a friend has caught them at night somewhere close to the inlet.

I don't know if this is off topic but I know they have cats in J C Boyle too.

You probably have a fish/depth finder?

Looking at Google Maps (never been there), I would recommend either the Southeast portion of the lake, or a deep area close to a drop-off in the West section of the lake. Use a stocker Trout fillet for bait, Emigrant gets stocked right? Those Channels will be very used to eating them.

I would atleast use this advice if I went to the place and had a boat and little info on known whereabouts of the fish.

Neither Lost River nor JC Boyle (called Topsy Reservoir) have channel cats, but they both have brown bullheads. Topsy's cats are smaller (averaging about 10"), while I've caught fish close to 2 pounds out of Lost River. No channel cats in Klamath County, though...
