Hello everyone! I was just wondering if anyone was interested in fishing the Sandy, Sunday morning? I usually fish the Sandy during Winter Steelhead, but I want to get into some Coho. Let me know if your willing to meet up. It would be nice to meet some of you guys. Let me know. Thanks! ~ Scott

At this point I'm not to sure that the sandy is going to be the best bet on getting in to some fish out there. In fact I don't know where is going to be a good bet right now. A lot of people are talking about the coastal rivers picking up but I don't know them at all so don't have a clue on where to start.

Yeah. Heard the same thing from a few guys at work. I was just with my uncle on the Wilson, and Klatskanine. the past few weekends. I would be willing to venture out there if your interested. I caught 2 at the Wilson, and they were pretty silver. The Klatskanine you probably need a boat, but they are definitely in both rivers.

I just wanted to try out the Sandy because its only a 15min. drive, normally I go to the Trask, Wilson, Klats. Let me know Bigdog. Maybe we can find fish elsewheres? Thanks for the Heads up! ~ Scott

Well I'm hitting the sandy in the morning to check it out and see what it's looking like and if there is anything out there worth bonking. So I will for sure give everyone a heads up on how its looking out there. I won't be hitting CC though I'm not up for that hike:lol:

Yeah we might have to hook up for a coastal trip maybe can work something out to split gas unless you are wanting to take our own rigs. I need a little help finding where to go out there before I head out there and try to fish it blindly.

As far as the Wilson goes...anywhere in the lower river is good. The old burned down Guide Shop hole is about as high as i would start (they're higher, but access gets harder, wet, slippery treks down hills and so forth). There are 2 "roads" into the guide shop hole and both are really hard to see during the day, let alone early in the AM. Best bet for that is to pull into the turn out where the foundation and partial walls are left, wait for the traffic to go past you (its crazyness at times) and then turn around and drive down the path. Its right on a corner just past a bridge, i can't remember the mile marker off hand though.

Keep going down and there's an RV park which i always bypass, but just past it is the hole called Windy rock, its a huge turn out you can't miss. Park there and look for a small path heading down to the water, watch your step, the path is narrow and on an incline, however once down there its a fairly easy walk down stream for about a mile i think. There's one spot where you can cross private property by dropping a few bucks into a can nailed to a fence.

After that i believe Dougherty (not sure of the spelling honestly) Slough is a good spot i hear, its actually in Tillamook, you'll find it just by following highway 6, when you get to the bridge crossing the Wilson in Tillamook you're there.

For the Trask i only know the hospital hole right now, 5 bucks per person to fish since its private property. Just follow the road signs in Tillamook leading to the hospital, look for a green barn/shed just past the hospital and pull in there, follow the path around and pay the person in the small cabin by the gate.

Ok I know we have to pay to park in some of the parks around here and we say that is paying to fish but this gives that a whole new meaning. I can't decide if I like it or not do have to say the people that own the property and thought of it are smart though. Kinda wish some of the places around here that are on private property would do that so we could fish the holes on thier property. Seem to be a lot of good hole on PP and I wish I could go to them.

Thanks for the heads up though I would have been one of them guys heading out there because heard about the hole but didn't know you had to pay and get there with no money.

Definitely worth a trip to the Wilson, Bigdog! I would be more than willing to go 1/2's up on gas out there. I have a truck, so it would be easy and comfortable with all our gear and such. I have 4 seats, so whoever is open or willing to tag along. I think it would be great!

I know some good spots for the upcoming Fall Chinook run on the Wilson too. All accessible to bank fishing.

I was at the Sandy today, but I only saw lots of dark bodied fish unfortunately..So who is up for fishing the Wilson? lol.

Fishing the Wilson

If you are going down to the Wilson check the water level and make sure the river is falling not rising! It will make or break the days fishing. Here is a link to the river level:TLMO3 Hydrograph

Hope to see some OFFers there this weekend. :lol:You'll know it's me by the TARGET on the back of my fishing vest.

I went and checked out the Garbage Hole area this morning. I only planned on fishing in the morning to see if it would be worth spending all day Friday there. I saw two maybe three fish roll, one looked pretty decent. However, it was essentially dead compared to what it was like just a week ago. I didn't get any strikes and bailed just before 11a. Hopefully someone had better luck than me.

I agree... I just dont think they are moving in the kind of numbers they were a week or 2 ago... I know theres chrome fish I landed a native at EC just the other day. I'd be very happy if there is another huge push of decent fish that come in but I guess we will see. :p

Well like I said Bigdog. We can work something out? Figure out a weekend or something. Great point GDBrown! Water level is definitely a must to check out before hitting the river. A few co-workers of mine told me the Wilson should be Hot in a week or two.

True, fish are everywhere right now, especially on the coast. All those fish have been waiting to make it up river, and soon the Pilot fish are going to be all over the place. Also I heard the Wilson has a Chum Salmon run at the same time and Fall Chinook, not as strong as prior years, but still. Never know what you could hook into.

That wilson hole sounds sweet. Anyone know how far burned down shop is from Portland?? I was planning on going to Cedar Creek, but I am unsure. I have not caught a fish on the Sandy since the first week of Oct. ,but I have been trying. I want to start off Nov. with a nice fish. Set the clocks back and get an extra hour of morning fishing. Oh Yeah!!!
