Harriet Lake is an awesome fishery!

My legs were still cold @ 8 last night. one thing I did notice is that there are areas of the lake that are noticeably colder than others, almost like it is welling up from a spring below????? Maybe it's the current from the river???? Those cold spots were cooolllldddd.. Brrrr

Harriet Lake is an awesome fishery!

I had a lot of fun. I was using a size 10 olive hairs ear nymph. I had to switch from a floating line to a sink tip. I was just working the grass lines down to about 15 ft.

Harriet Lake is an awesome fishery!

Since no one wanted to hit the river with me today, I decided to dust off my 5 wt fly rod and head up to Harriet lake. I couldn't believe how good the bite was. I caught fourteen trout up to 16". Most of them were caught on a hares ear nymph. Late in the day the fish started eating dry flies. It...

that is excellent, I have my air brush set up. I have been painting lures for a couple of years too. I just haven't gotten into making the hard baits yet. would you be interested in a trade? I'll paint some swim baits for you in exchange for a couple of those 8" baits. Take a look at the pics...

Went to the Willy by St. Paul

You are quite welcome. That crappie fishing was a blast, I can't wait to do it again. There is quite a bit of wood in that slough & I found that once I got past the mud there was some rock that could be productive once the water warms up a bit. These fluctuating water temps seems to have the...

    Mary S. Young Park!

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that it had that much tidal influence. The bite I have been experiencing down there makes a lot more sense now. The incoming tide really gets those fish active!

    Smallmouth on the Willamette River

I've been doing the same. I can catch 1-2 pounders all day, nothing bigger. I've been cranking 8-12 ft of water on gravel banks and drop shotting the wood along the way. I'm looking for the big bite too.
