    1st nook on a fly

Is that the Jason that works at Cabela's in Eugene? I apologize if I am incorrect... But if it is, hit me back, Jason. This is Erich, that super tall guy that you used to work with in the fishing department a couple years ago. It would be awesome to wet a line with you bud. I live in Vancouver WA.

Finally got settled and look'n for fishing pals

My plan is to start researching where and when the fish show up and start exploring. I have a reliable rig, good gear. and I know how to catch fish. I just don't know where and when yet. This gorge and it's tribs seem a bit daunting at the moment. I'm used to a short drive where I could...

Finally got settled and look'n for fishing pals

Hi OFFers! I recently moved to Vancouver WA from Eugene, OR and am finally settled and am itching to go fishing! I haven't been in months... I realize that this whole Columbia gorge thing is a daunting scape that I'm not sure I want to conquer alone. I've have good success with finding fishing...

    400 pound halibut!!

Fair enough, if they cannot reproduce anymore than I apologize. I did some research on the internet and found a lot info that would suggest otherwise, though. As far as shaming him, if they do reproduce at that size/age, I stand by what I said. Just because it's legal doesn't exclude it from shame.

    400 pound halibut!!

Is it strange that I hate seeing huge fish like this being harvested? I don't have much halibut experience but I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear that huge halibut are lousy to eat and are generally female a.k.a the ones that ought to be let go so that they can breed. I'm gonna do some...

    Magnum Gitzets for lings?

Oh those will definitely work well for ling cod. I have fished the OR coast for decades and if it's one thing I have learned about lings, it's that they really aren't picky about what they will eat. That being said, if I had a choice as to what size and color of gear to toss at em, it would be...

    New to steelheading

Thanks for the pointer guys! I am a recent transplant from Eugene to Portland and am trying to figure out the new fishing game up here. I was at Riverside park today as well as the mouth of Eagle Creek tossing a #4 blue and silver Blue Fox. No sign of a fish anywhere but it was fun exploring :thumb:

    Lingcod happy dance

Awesome video!!! Can you speak on your experience using lingcod as crab bait? Had good luck? Growing up in southern OR I was always told that ling carcasses didn't make very good crab bait because the crabs have naturally evolved to be scared of lingcod scent. Sounds a bit "mythy" to me but none...
