First "big" bass of the year

I had to put the quotation marks in it. Makes people look at the post asking them selves what is he calling a "big" bass ;)

First "big" bass of the year

I have fished this same spot lots of times. It's a tiny patch of lily pads. Pulled out a lot of bass in the 2-4 pound range in that patch just nothing over 6lbs.

First "big" bass of the year

This guy weighed in at 6lbs 8oz. Caught it on a 5" watermelon blk/red flake senko. The funny thing is a missed the hook set the first time on this bass. I could tell it had some weight to it when I set the hook the first time. So decided to throw my senko back into the same spot and sure enough...

    South Santiam springers

I went out this last week (5-13) and caught one Salmon. I was using a #3 bluefox and letting it drift down the river. It was my first trip to the Santiam this year. Caught the fish on my second cast. Not sure it was skill or just dumb luck ;) Went out the next day and didn't get any thing. I...

    The bass are waking up

I really enjoy my kayak. For small lakes and ponds they are perfect. I can take that kayak into areas that a boat just can't do. Also they are very quiet compared to a aluminum boat.

    The bass are waking up

Just been fishing for the largemouth. This lake is just behind my house and doesn't have any smallmouth in it. Does have some very nice largemouth in it along with carp, bluegill, catfish, and crappie.

    The bass are waking up

With this warm weather we have been having the bass are starting to get active. So far my biggest bass this year was 6lbs 10oz. My goal this year was to catch a 6+lbs bass. Most of the ones I have been catching are 1 to 3 lbs. When i figure out how to post a picture on here with my phone ill...

Any reports on the Alsea or Siletz?

Well went fishing on the Alsea today. I seen 3 fish on the bank and no fish for me. One person was telling me that there were 100+ fish in the trap Monday morning.

Any reports on the Alsea or Siletz?

I went fishing on the Alsea on Christmas eve. I was fishing down on the lower river plunking some Spin-n-glows. Only seen 2 steel head caught and one jack Coho caught/released. That's the most action I have seen this winter season. I was wondering if any one has been on the Siletz recently and...

    About ready to give up!

Today was just a really bad day on the water. Just bought a 10"6' Lamiglass for float fishing and have been floating jigs and row. I now have to return the new Lamiglass float rod that I bought. I noticed today that my new line on it is frayed (after using it one day). Also some thing didn't...

    About ready to give up!

I have been fishing for Salmon Steel head for 2 years now. I have only managed to catch one steel head and one Salmon on a charter boat. I don't even want to know how much time and money I have put into fishing. Today on the South Santiam I watched 2 Salmon brought in and 1 steel head and at...

    Alsea post blow-out fishing

In my opinion I don't think this will blow out the river. It might get a little dirty with that much rain in a short period of time. With how little rain we have gotten this year. I would take advantage of this and fish it as much as possible. From Friday all through all next week should be a...

    Newport shore fishing during winter

I don't know how rough the surf has been lately. It all depends on the weather conditions. In all honesty if you are out far enough that the waves are breaking you are to far out. I almost never go out past the beach. I have during really calm nights in the summer and the fishing isn't any...

    Newport shore fishing during winter

Most of the time the fish are right in front of you. You really don't have to cast that far maybe 20-30 feet if that. During the slack tide they tend to be a little bit farther out. If the tide is coming in or out then they will be closer to the rocks. What I like to do is cast at a diagonal...

    Newport shore fishing during winter

Personally this is one my favorite times of year to fish off the south jetty in Newport. The best time to go is about hour before sunset and fish into the night for sea bass. Some of things I would recommend is a head lamp. It is a lot easier to deal with then a flash light or lantern. Like...
