Soda straw instead of tubing?

ok so I'm wondering if there is a solid reason why
we wouldnt want to use soda straws instead of
the much more exspensive tubing over the treble hook joint on our lures?

X2. The flex will cause it, to wiggle in the water--and entice a strike. A great idea (and less expensive, as mentioned). Winner winner chicken dinner!

since it's a 'bendy' straw, I would name that lure the "Bender"...

Super cool. The straw might need to be pretty heavy duty to hold on for too many seasons, but for me a spinner lasts a few days before the river god steals it anyway. Looks fantastic, keep innovating!

The only downside I envision is longevity; I would think that a thin, plastic straw will quickly crack/fall apart (especially if exposed to sunlight for a time), whereas tubing is typically durable.

good point but all that required is drop the hook from split ring and install new "bender"

Ah yes, if the hook is attached to a split-ring, then that certainly negates lack of durability with a quick and easy reinstall...especially given the very inexpensive nature of a simple straw. Go with it. Another nice feature is ease of color change.
