My first 2017 springer

I had plans to focus my fishing efforts on smallmouth bass today, but I was waylaid by a friends offer to take me spring salmon fishing. He is a guide, Bill Gaither owner of Northwest Hawg Hunters; so it was an invite I could not turn down. My first salmon fishing trip of the year, and luck was on my side - went 1/1 and landed my first springer of the year on my first outing of the year. Salmon fishing does not normally go that smoothly for me. We were fishing the Willamette through downtown Portland. Not many fish were caught in that area today, so I was both lucky and fortunate to bring home such a scrumptious dinner. Haha. The fish was 14 pounds, caught it at a depth of 22 feet on a copper spinner with pink hoochie. Good luck out there angling cohorts!
