    Diamond Lake

Anyone been to Diamond lately? How’s the fishing & what’s hot right now? We have a boat reservation for this Friday and very much looking forward to it.

Here's an ODFW report from 9/5:

"Fishing continues to be good at Diamond Lake. Most anglers are taking home fish averaging 15-inches and we are starting to see more 17-inch or larger fish in creel surveys. Trolling seems to be the most effective technique, but using bait or flies has also been showing positive results.

Make sure to contact Diamond Lake Lodge for up-to-date conditions. Anglers can check fishing and water conditions at Diamond Lake on the Diamond Lake Resort Facebook page, or call 541-793-3333 for updates. Diamond Lake is open year-round. Anglers should also check with the Umpqua National Forest (541-498-2531) for information on seasonal camp and ramp closures.

Diamond Lake has been stocked with tiger and brown trout. These fish are intended to assist in controlling illegally introduced tui chub. These trout are catch-and-release only and need to be released immediately and unharmed if caught.

As part of the 2016 regulation simplification process, Diamond Lake is now back to the Southwest Zone regulation of 5 rainbow trout per day."

We had a great day out on Diamond Lake on Friday 09/14. Not smoky at all on the lake, but there was a little haze out in the distance. We started around 1PM and the water was quite choppy from wind when we were leaving the marina and there were actually white caps across the lake.

By the time we got to the South End, wind started to subside and by 3pm the lake was still again. It turned out to be a fantastic day, even though our party only pulled in two Rainbows, both were caught by yours truly

A 14" caught on a blue Panther Martin spinner and a 16" caught on chartreuse Power Bait. Here are some pics of the day....enjoy!

Non-existent. From what I understand, they typically disappear around mid-August after the standing water from snow melt dries up and the nights get cooler. Over the years, I have been there a bunch in August and September and only saw a few on one trip in early August.
