Well I hit the south jetty right at noon, which unfortunately was smack dab in the middle of a rather large tidal exchange, +9ft down to -1ft, which had the water between the jetties flowing just like it was still the main channel of the Yaquina.
The crab from the jetty was about the only thing we managed to catch, but after letting the kids poke at it a bit, we helped it find it's way back to a tide pool. ![]() The water was flat as could be and crystal clear too, at least on the ocean side. The bay side was muddy and even silted in pretty badly. ![]() When all was said and done the fishing was great, while the catching sucked. |

Just went out that way this weekend, Newport dock. Tried some crabbing, caught a few, nothing worth keeping, couple of red rock. Good time, the kids enjoyed themselves, and it actually stayed fairly warm. The weatherman was right for once. All and all a good final crabbing trip for now. Now to find something to pass the time until August/September.
