Are you talking about the head waters of the Mckenzie River ?

If that's the one he's talking about, I can't help so much other than offering up that it's probably still burried under snow. There's a resort up there, you could always give them a call to find out what the conditions are and when they think things will be better, Clear Lake Resort Home Page

And for anyone that's never been to this Clear lake, make certain you get there sometime. Even if you don't catch anything the scenery is second to none! And the last time I was there I did spot some large trout prowling the shallows along the lava flow across from the main store but the water was so clear they spooked when my lure was still a good 20ft or more from them.

Definitely worth the drive, no matter how far from the area you are!

Nice picture Mokai, I have a very similar one from August of 2005...

And after examining the two of them, it looks like you probably took your photo from just a few steps on the other side of that bush from the foreground of my photo!

Default Nice works...

You both have an excellent eye, very nice - kudos to the both of you as far as the fishing goes, I have only fished it once and didn't do very well. Thats not to say it can't be a great lake, but on the same hand I think very late spring or summer would be a better time, weather wise and fishing.

Post Trailbridge ...

You should try Trailbridge or Carmen...both are great lakes from shore. No bait at Trailbridge though. If you really want the outdoors experience give Smith res. a try, tough from the shore but from a magic carpet (floating device) it is a killer lake.

ive always had tremendous success at clear lake. ive fished there anywhere from may all the way thru november and always caught fish. later in the season try powerbait, although it is never fun to use. also try anything that wobbles (spoons). in the spring trolling is best but spoons have worked for me every time i go. fish arent huge but sure are fresh in that freezing water. have caught one that pushed 18" but thats it of any size. hope you find this information helpful. pm me if youd like. good luck and cant wait for the weather to be nice!!
