To the best of my knowledge, yes. It's just too darn cold for anything else.

I've fished Clear Lake since i was in grade school! The most amazing lake that i've been too. (the high lakes are my goal this year!) Anyhow, I've always done very well with Rooster Tails (Black, Fire Tiger, and White). As far as anything other than Rainbows, I've caught countless Beautiful Brook Trout under the bridge at the headwaters of the McKinzie. Used a metallic green corky with a worm for them. I'm gonna try and get the new Pontoon boat out there this year. No motor boats, just row boats, and you can rent one at the Lodge for the day too! Good Luck to everyone!

a corky is a drift-bobber - but it isn't generally used as a strike indicator.

So yeah it is a bobber, but it's not a bobber in the common sense- Its used to add floatation for keeping your hook off the bottom while driftfishing. Plus it adds color/ color contrast.

These in metallic greeen are what he was talking about using- (probably in size 12 or 14)

I believe that it is open year round, but you need a vehicle that can get through the snow, and the road into and out of the Lodge is paved but very narrow, i assume they plow it, but haven't tried in the winter so call ahead to make sure.

Thats the one! Metallic green, size 14. just let the current bounce it along the bottom, I fish just down stream from the bridge, casting upstream and letting swing towards the bank at the end of the drift.

oregon - Google Maps

just follow NF-770 and it will take you to i believe "Cold Water cove" Camp Ground. when you see the water on your left, there is a trail the follows the lake all the way around, just take that trail (clockwise around the lake) and you'll see the trail makers after about 200 yrds (aprox) just follow the trail to the bridge and and start fishin!

Here's a map of how to get there. Not the best but lets you know where to go

It's amazing, there's petrified trees still standing in the water, you can see them under the boat in a certain part of the lake, deepest blue water this side of the tropics! haha, only about 40 degrees colder
