I too recommend the Alsea or even the Siletz. There both beautiful rivers full of salmon, steelhead and trout. There's almost always a place where you can be alone to enjoy the forest, the critters, and the river.

the N. Santiam is a great place to go (above foster res.) there are some monster trout in there and some not so monsters, they all fight like crazy though. it is restricted to lures and flies only in some parts so be sure to read up on where you're at.

I love that stretch of river....never ceases to amaze me, even has some Steelhead in it. Spinner water, low and slow thats the ticket.

yep, it's good pretty much any time, unless they just let water out of the dam or something, that messes it up so bad, so you never know what to excpect until you get there.

Thumbs up santiams

N Santiam above Detroit maybe? S santiam above Foster? Alot of fishing around you there - try the middle fork of the santiam - some great trout fishing and you wont see anyone!! Short hike in, great solitude and some fish even....

Dude, ok. I wont tell you where to go, but look up by Kiger Island area. West side mostly. I would use a pontoon boat, but I never use boats execpt for kayaks so I wouldnt know how that would turn out. I would fish for bass using rapalas. If you want to fly fish use bigger stuff.... catch big fish... You wont see the big ones jumping, you will just catch them. Trust me.. I know this.
