Default Blue Lake and Commonwealth lake

Started my spring break with a fishing trip with my daughter Ali and our dog Kirby. We started out at Commonwealth lake in the Cedarhills area of Beaverton. The only action was a gentleman throwing jointed Rapalas and catching smaller trout. Upon arrival I saw a sign stating that fish had to be 8 inches to keep out of that body of water. Seeing no action from the Powereggs off the bottom I decided to head out to Blue Lake instead. Despite it's reputation for being nasty water, I went anyway. First thing we saw some close up action from some local Bald Eagles. The guy next to us then caught a fish, giving us hope. After about an hour with no results Ali finally felt the tug she was waiting for and made her move. She had the first Rainbow of the day. NO SKUNK! She then caught two more within the hour. For the next hour it was dead and then I caught one to keep us going. We then got visitors. Jbean and her husband fished next us and we chatted about the forum and fishing. Very nice people! A fellow gave me his fish and then toward the end I caught one more. So we skated with six fish to boot. It was a great day with my Ali and Kirby. I was pumped to finally fish with a fellow OFF'er Hope they had luck after we left. No photos sorry. Need to remember that damn thing!

Great report JT. Glad to hear that you didn't have to post on that other thread. What a great way to start your spring break.

Default Uh, yeah, I'd be the one on the other thread...

Yes, we were there, I just posted in the skunk thread. Didn't see anyone catch anything after you left, JT. Good job to you and Ali! Everyone, that puppy they have is the cutest little guy, sheesh, I mean absolutely charming fuzzball. We saw the bald eagles too, very cool. Our car was broken into though, so use caution there at Blue Lake Park. Totally a bummer. But good to meet an OFF member. Very pleasant, we look forward to fishing next to you all again!

That totally sucks about your car. I saw a ranger there as we were leaving. Hope you didn't lose anything to valuable. I hate thieves!! That park is ghetto. Fishing holes are prime targets for would be thieves. Boat ramps parking lots and pull outs are all on the target list of these losers. Again it was nice to meet you and I am terribly sorry your property was violated.

Smile Good Fishing

I have to go out to Blue Lake sometime. I think I remember someone talking about bass there as well.

Good to hear you got your limit..... did you pan fry them?

I heard that Commonwealth got very crowded the week during and after the stock. but apparently they dumped the fish from bethany in commonwealth like last year because of bad water or something. so there should have been 2500 in there. but who knows how many have been caught. I have yet to try.

good luck.

My spring break lead me to Blue Lake once again on Weds. With horrid weather on the brink I had full raingear and many layers. Arrived at 10:30 to some light rain and a slight breeze. The water was rippled but a very pleasant jade green. One other fellow was fishing there as well. He did not last long once the weather hit I chose a spot I saw a guy using on Monday and castout my Truse PowerEggs. Had the first fish within 20 minutes, it was a little guy, but I damaged his gill and kept him. That is about the time the weather hit. Strong wind and pouring rain mixed with sleet. My rod was shaking all over the place so a hit was tough to spot. I fished on and caught another stocker around 10". As the wheather cleared and the sun broke through my rod slammed into action. I caught two more immediatly and had to wait an hour and move my spot for the last. But I did bag my limit and felt good that I stuck it out.

I will be fishing Blue Lake today Friday from 2 till I limit out or get sick of it. So look for the guy with the rimmed glasses and a Goat tee. Hope to see ya there! I fish the man made cement dock. There is a $4 parking fee for those of you who havn't been there. I will post a report later tonight for those of you thinking about fishing it on Sat. I might go to Mt Hood pond after as well.

I caught 7 trout from 3 to 5 at Blue lake. I was fishing from the bottom with Chartruse power eggs on 3 ft leader. The left side of the cement walk is still the place to be.

Hey JTLunker, when you use the power eggs do put them on a salmon egg hook? Also do you just use one egg or do you put two on the hook? I might try Blue Lake but Henry Hagg Lake is hot right now, my friend and I limited out in 2 hours last Saturday.

I use Gamakatsu #4 egg hooks. With two eggs on it and some shrimp scent.
