Thanks for the great pictures and report! How'd they taste?

I'm gonna be heading up there in a few hours here, had to check the air in the trailer tires, flush the tank, etc. with all that work, i'm dead set on goin!

I'm glad to hear that you saw people heading up with their boats, that answers my question of wether or not Thistle creek was useable. Although i do believe it is usuable year-round, as long as your vehicle can handle the mud/snow.

Anyone ever been fishing there in the summer for largemouth? I've seen some hanging around the brush that gets submerged when the water level is up. Didn't know if there was a healthy population, or I witnessed the only one in the lake!

I'll post my result as soon as I get a chance, i'm goin after Kokanee and Chinook so we'll see. Got some new gear at the Sportmans Show Time to put it to the test!.

Supposedly there are bass tournaments held there, so I have to assume there are a decent number of fish. That being said I've fished for them at Green Peter but never have seen one there yet.

Well, if i get up there this summer and get back in some of the arms, i'm gonna have to give those LM a shot! I may be heading up that way in the morning. Can't waste a beautiful day off, after all, my goal this year is to fish as much as possible! I just need to figure out if i want to go Steelhead fishing, or Kokanee/Trout fishing.......i have making decisions! haha

I like that goal, as a matter of fact I believe that was about the only New Years resolution I made!



With Green Peter and the South Santiam (I'm assuming it's open, I don't know the regs there) being so close, I don't think you'd have to choose one or the other. Hit up the steelhead first thing in the morning, then the trout in the afternoon !

Great point....I fished Foster a few years ago and caught a Steelhead (they truck them up from the hatchery below the dam) in the early morning in the back where the South Fork comes in and in the afternoon while trolling we manage some very respectful Trout...very cool lake system.

Wow, thats a good point!
Guess you just need to be smarter that the fish! haha, I'm gonna be bringing my steelhead gear with me this summer. the South Santiam is supposed to have a pretty good Summer Steelhead run!
