I was thinking of going up last week, but photos posted on another site showed 3+ feet of snow on the ground, which dampened my enthusiasm. Maybe the warmer weather this week has caused some of it to melt.

I was up there yesterday (to play in the snow). No snow up there anymore on the Highway side. We drove across the dam to go up behind the lake and there was snow just on the other side of the dam, but otherwise clear, sunny and warm. The water on the Detroit side is still very low!

Does anyone fish from the damn there (that is reading posts). How does one pull a fish up 100 feet or so (however far down the water is? That's a whole lot of reeling in, and hoping it don't fall off the hook!!! I did see some guys fishing from the damn (right in the middle of it) and it looked like one guy was hauling one up, but I never saw him get it all the way to the top?!

I've fished from there in the winter, and frankly you do lose a lot of fish, they wiggle, flip, flop, and manage to free themselves from the hook, but there are also plenty who hook themselves fair well and stay on for the entire ride.

And yeah 100ft is a pretty accurate guess as there's about 90ft between the current water level and the Kanes Marina ramp, and I suppose there's still some water that goes on top of that as well...
