Please don't use live fish for bait, not only is it against the law while in freshwater, but it also causes the problems they just recently solved at Diamond lake.

your exactly right chris. It's illegal Because it causes problems like those at diamond. Introducing nuisance species is just unthoughtful towards the balance of the ecosystem you are disturbing. fishing alone is enough pressure and disturbance..

P.s. it sounds like you need to learn the need for C&R and to only keep the bleeders that are entirely necessary to keep. or those that you intend to consume in the next few days. A freezer full of trout that don't get eaten does Oregons waters NO good.
I for one am glad they are smarter than your average peanut.

I really didn't mean to sound like a jerk, But I just had to get my thoughts out there.

That is the whole idea of an open forum, being able to voice your opinion with out threat or intimidation. This is one of the few forums on the net that is mainly self policed, very rare in our new world of cyber space.

i was useing a native species of minow in the same body of water i found it. We have a no live bait rule for that stream that i just learned of but i never caught anything on live bait so i dont care. Useing a fly fishing set up i caught 2 small 6-7 incher just before i leaft for KY. Dont know if the C&R thing was directed at me but i only keep fish that get hooked bad and would die if i release them or if i intend to eat them with in the day.

Like I said I didn't mean to sound like a jerk, but I guess we all have our moments..
I for one am glad to hear you C&R.

But-
simply not caring that you broke the law is Not an apropriate answer. period. You really should read ALL the regulations for an area, Before fishing a location. you're pretty lucky an OSP F&W didn't catch you..

Oregon 4x4 don't be such a cop. He doesn't need to hear it from you. I am sure that you are not trying to be a jerk, but I have seen all kinds of posts like yours relating to C&R. I think the decision to catch and keep or to release a fish is a personal decision and should be made by the angler. It is great that you practice C&R and the live bait issue is a good call. But really it isn't up to you. I keep trout in my freezer and enjoy giving them to friends who don't fish if I won't eat them before too long. If ODFW allows people to keep fish out of a body of water it must be a healthy fishery. I say decide for yourself Onchrychus, enjoy what you catch.
PS
Work on that typing man!=) And you should try to read your regs. BIG Fines and jail are possible for some infractions. Just a (*friendly*) heads up.

Nothing wrong with keeping a few fish each year....the ODFW allows us to eat and enjoy even Bull Trout. I must admit I have even BBQ'ed a few my self, I don't believe the rumors are true about them, they taste nothing like Bald Eagle Glad your starting to post, you should share some of your pictures......maybe even some from Popes Hole.
