Default Fishing near Portland?

I live in Clackamas and want to take our boys out in the boat to do some trout fishing this Saturday, but I don't know of any good lakes within a moderate distance. They are young so the shorter the drive the better. Any suggestions? I don't need to go after any trophy fish, just want them to see some decent action! Thanks for any info you might be able to share!

There are a few places around here that would work for kids. One would be small fry lake up the clackamas river. It is only for little kids...under 12 I think. It is located a promontory lake outside of Estacada, about 40 min from the area. There is also Mt Hood Pond in Gresham and West Salish in Fairview.

North Fork resivoir is not too far from Clackamas. It is probally an hour at the most. You can stop in Estacada at the bait shop to see what is what the fish are bitting. The Guys in there have always been helpfull to me. Once there you can fish easily from the PGE boat ramp. Lots of shore and a dock to fish from. NF has been stocked heavily and I have always had luck there. I fish Power bait/Eggs from the bottom. Should be cool for your boys and I think they can make the drive. Blue Lake and Hagg Lake are good and close as well. Good luck!
