Portland Area Fishing
Hi there! Going to visit a relative in Portland for 3 days starting tomorrow. Was wondering if I get some advice/tips on which fishing place best to go to. I wanted to fish for some trout and bass from the bank. Would love to bring my children as well. Any suggestion/tip wil be appreciated.

As far as children friendly go your best bets on the west side of Portland will be Hagg Lake or Vernonia Pond. It's mostly bass and panfish this time of the year, but you might hook into the occasional trout despite the temperature.

Only half an hour from portland is gresham, which has quite a few ponds like the salish ponds and the mt hood pond, both filled with stockers that will bite powerbait and worms.

I would go to George Rogers park in south Lake Oswego. Bobber worm from the rocks on the beach should get some attention from the smallies. The marina downtown is also a good spot for Smallies this time of year.

Tom McCall Waterfront park is in the middle of portland. There are lots of rocks there, smallies sure love big ol chunky rocks. But people might think your weird if you stand in the middle of that park fishing...
