I too would love to know if anyone is going to be at GP for the koke derby. Was trying to plan a trip down with friends, but work is in the way for them. Would love to see some other OFF members there, since i'll be alone. Kokanee tastes so flippin fantastic!

This is the first I've heard of this derby. Thanks for mentioning it. I'm sure there are members who will give it their best shot. I just may go and watch if nothing else.
Welcome to OFF! Hope you are a regular with lots of posts and info.

I have never fished this particular derby, but I have fished multiple derby style fish offs at Lake Merwin in WA. The cool think about kokes are they are a land locked salmon, so the fight is great, but they kinda act like a trout bein stuck in a res. or lake, so they are sorta stupid. Not stocker dumb, but almost everyone will limit at 5. I remember when I went to lake billy when the limit was 25, I usually left with 50 fish. 2-3 days of excellent fishin with friends, and what seemed to be small "forests" of kokanee. Troll through and bang, bang, bang. 3 for 4 hit almost every time. Definately try to make it down. Bank fishing is probably illegal, like most kokanee tourneys, so if you can float your in. Geared for fun for sure. Kokanee are fun. There will be some die hards there that will probably win, but they pay down to like 5th or maybe 10th place alot of the time.

I have read quite a bit on the website (Kokanee Power of Oregon ) and it sounds like a blast. Troutski, I talked to my son whom you met, and he said "heck yeah". So we will be there and maybe even take home one of the prizes. Hope to see a bunch of OFF'ers there. Maybe we need to come up with a logo, secret handshake, something special so we will recognize one another.
I'm really psyched about this derby! Thank you again roguerick!

Cool Uh-oh

Ummm, at your house. In your driveway. When we picked up the lil row boat. He helped you load it into my truck. You gave him directions to a fishing hole. Tall guy with a goatee. Is it coming back to you? lol
